Christine Meneer (Artistic Director) is a native of Cuyahoga Falls and started ballet lessons at the age of eight. She studied under the direction of Heinz Poll in Akron and was accepted into the Ohio Ballet at the age of 14 where she danced for many years. Furthering her career, she moved to Philadelphia to dance with the Pennsylvania Ballet where she had the honor of dancing in many Balanchine classics such as Serenade, Symphony in C and Concerto Barocco. Upon retirement, Ms. Meneer started her own dance school in Munroe Falls, which is now celebrating its 25th season. Her school is recognized as the highest level of training for ballet dancers in Northeastern Ohio. In 1993, Ms. Meneer founded Children’s Ballet Theatre which evolved into Ballet Theatre of Ohio in 2007. The uniqueness of Meneer’s company is evident in every production, starting with the exquisite costumes and gorgeous sets, right down to the precision of every highly skilled dancer. Her Nutcracker was voted "Akron’s #1 Holiday Show" by Akron Beacon Journal voters. Akron Area Arts Alliance recently named Ms. Meneer the Outstanding Artist in Dance award for her contribution to the dance community
